Introduction to Moving Water

For those that have little or no experience on white water. In order to get the most from this course candidates should be at confident BCU 2 star standard. The course is designed to introduce the basic white water strokes and build confidence in their use in a safe enviroment.

Previous experience: a confident flat water paddler with the ability to manoeuvre your craft with ease, able to perform a confident and controlled capsize.

Moving Water Skills for Improvers

Designed for those who have had some previous white water experience but would like to improve their skills as well as building experience and confidence on different rivers or in different situations. This course is ideal for those wishing to train for BCU 4 star assessment.

Previous experience: Competent Grade II ideally with a flat water roll.

River Leadership - Introduction

Running wild rivers is all about judgement and river leadership. This one-day programme a perfect way to hone your river leadership skills. High staff to student ratios combined with top level coaching give maximum opportunity for improvement.

Previous experience: Competent Grade II ideally with a flat water roll.

Intermediate Moving Water Skills

Aimed at paddlers competent at 4 star standard who wish to advance their skills on grade II/III water. For candidates with the competence but without formal 4 start assessment, an opportunity will be provided while developing skills beyond this standard. The advancement of skills normally comes under some of the following headings - River Leadership, White Water Safety and Basic Rescue, Reading White Water, Strategies to make the water work for you, eexperience of applying skills on different rivers to gain experience and basic playboating.

Previous experience: Competent Grade II some grade 3, with a reliable flat water roll.
